inspiration:

This me deserves to be seen. My being resides in this vessel of skin and bones and beating systems that keep me alive. I am the sum of my parts. Parts that no one else has a say in. A well oiled machine of capability beyond the one of biological creation. My eyes tell my story. My curves measure my own connection to womanhood. I exist as my carnal characteristics. But for myself, and myself alone. You do not get to tell me that I will change my mind. My mind is mine. You do not get to tell me that I am selfish for your own gain. I am more because I deserve to be more. I deserve to cast away the superficial nature of societal preference. This me deserves to be seen, heard, felt, admired, respected, trusted, and loved. My being is sacred in ways that when I say I know what’s best….I mean it. The traumas I possess will not be passed onto another generation, and that is a choice I have carefully weighed. I am fertile in my existence, thoughts, ability to love, and support. No child of mine is needed to prove I can be more. No child of mine is needed to prove I understand a nurturing kind of love. No child of mine is needed to prove myself to other people. No child of mine is needed to say I am strong. This me deserves to be seen.

What does the future hold?

The Woman In The Wire Suit is in the beginning stages of its creation process. This piece requires several residencies to develop the movement language in addition to parallel developments that include costume and lighting design. I want this piece to utilize multiple collaborations in order to push my idea to the next level. Stay tuned for more.
